Merry Christmas & Happy New Year from the TMHI Board
The board of directors for TMHI would like to take this opportunity to wish all of your families a happy holiday season.  We hope you have enjoyed the season so far.  We wanted to wish all of those participating in tournaments over the holiday break success. The board continues our focus on providing a harassment free environment for our players to learn both hockey and life skills within the program.  We hope you have a chance to reflect on your contribution to this type of atmosphere as we finish 2014; organizational success is not possible on an initiative of this size and importance without an individual focus from members of the organization.  The board continues to promote the 3 core values of our organization, Respect, Accountability and Work Ethic (RAW).

This year’s board saw the addition of some new members at the AGM.  Scott Zeller has stepped in as our VP Finance (treasurer) and Greg Mitchell provides support to the board in our Communications portfolio.  Brad Martin has joined the hockey operations committee as a co-chair with Derek Partlo.  In addition to these board and committee members we have also had some mid-season recruits as volunteers helping with board initiatives.  Jodi Edwards is helping out with our IP program, Jeff White is currently serving as our equipment manager and Rob Fabi and Rob Ardy are helping out in Operations and Communications.  I would like to extend a thank you to these new volunteers as well as the returning members of the board who volunteer countless hours to ensure your players have the best possible experience with hockey in Tillsonburg.

Our Operational group has implemented a number of new initiatives again this year.  A new tryout procedure and skill clinics to start the season were a success.  Members of the Operations Committee, co-chaired by Derek Partlo and Brad Martin, continue to support our coaches for skill development opportunities and with skill clinics.  Jeff Lessif, Dana Hicks and Jodi Edwards have successfully managed the start to another season with our Initiation Program (Beginner, Jr. Tyke, Tyke) with a record number of participants.  A special thanks to the coaching and on-ice volunteers in this program.

We continue to develop our website and other tools to find the best way of communicating to our membership.  We are in the process of changing some of the structure of the website and are looking for mobile application options for information sharing to the organization.  Our advertising initiatives have been successful again this year (thanks Geoff!) which allows us to provide increased service to you and your players.

The members of our Planning group continue the direction of maximizing game time on the Memorial arena for all of our teams.  This group has also begun to focus on minimizing ice time changes which can impact our biggest provider, the Tillsonburg Community Centre.  In keeping with tradition, the Planning portfolio has successfully hosted 3 tournaments again this year before the holiday break.

We look forward to implementing further improvements for the organization in the coming months.  If you see any opportunities for improvement of the organization please feel free to talk to any of the members of the board of directors.  We look forward to a successful 2015.

Scott Baird, President, Tillsonburg Minor Hockey
