Flames Doused in Season Opener
The first game of the 2013-2014 season was held at home with the Ayr Flames visiting.  Read on for more details.

The kids played an "Ayr"-tight (pardon the pun) game and Tristin Zeller shut the door to get his first shutout of the season.  Line changes were quick and timely which helped to keep heavy pressure on the Flames with fresh legs hitting the ice at the right times.

It looked like the kids have been playing together for months by the way they were passing.  Braxton Van Rybroeck had some sweet passes including a nice behind the back'er right on the tape of his linemate leading to one of the 5 goals.  The defense also played well keeping the number of shots low, but Tristin stood strong when called on and had a couple of great stops.

All 5 goals were scored by a different sniper which is a testament to the great teamwork and passing in this game. Brayden Castellani led the way a goal and two helpers.

A new tradition this year is the "Golden Jersey" which is awarded by the coaching staff to the MVP of the game.  The first recipient of this prestigious award was Brady Rangel in the game vs. Plattsville on Saturday October 6th and for this game was Nick Behman.  The recipient has the honour of wearing the jersey home after the game and during the next practice.  Congratulations Brady and Nick - job well done!

Next game is Wednesday at home to Simcoe at 6pm.
