A Draw with the Warriors
A back and forth affair with the visiting Simcoe Warriors resulted in a 4 - 4 tie.
The Warriors - Tornadoes rivalry picks up this year where it left off last year with both teams coming out ready to play. The lamp was lit up 5 times in total in the first period with both teams trading goals. Simcoe scored early in the third to tie the game and despite some good pressure by the boys, the game ended in a tie. Leading the scoring for this game was Evan MacFadden and Kaden Bailey each with a goal and an assist and Nick Behman with 2 helpers. Overall a great team effort with 10 different players getting on the scoresheet.
The kids played a good game but the coaching staff can see some areas where improvement is needed and they will be working to that end in coming practices. Coach MacFadden felt the line changes were great in the first game but not so much in this one. Its a long season though with tons of time and opportunity to improve and all these guys up to it, no question about that. Definitely a great group of kids that are quickly gelling together.
The well deserved recipient of the Golden Jersey for this game is Braxton Van Rybroek who Coach Mitchell said did a great job of taking what was done in practice and applying it in the game. Congratulations Braxton!
