Caledonia Challenge Cup Champions!
Tillsonburg Atom A/E Tornadoes are the 2013 Caledonia Challenge Cup Champions!

1st period saw Tburg out to a slow start.
Nerves were obvious and kids needed to find their skating legs. They held their own, Great defense by Griffin and Lyle kept the Oro Thunder at bay. The score was 0-0 at the end of 12.
Oro number 15 took the puck and skated through the forwards and past the defense and fired top shelf into the net.
Tillsonburg had lots of chances in the oppositions end with Braydon, Kaden and Evan plugging away trying to slap it past the goalie. A slip past the forwards and a deke past the defense saw #15 top shelf it for goal #2 for Oro.
Brady capatilized on a scrum in front of the Oro net and popped one in to get the score to 2-1 at the end of the second. It was the boost we were looking for.
After 2 full periods Tburg was down 2-1 and not giving up! Tristin made some fantastic saves keeping the boys in the game!
Third period it was end to end action when Nick "crank" Behman stopped a puck at the line and fired it in the air at the net and in and over the goalie Game Tied at 2!!!! Crowd went CRAZY!!!! A great breakaway by Braxton almost put the Tornadoes ahead.
Time(no Clue) left in the 3rd and the most amazing thing happened!!! The kids played as a team!!! Ethan passed the puck around the back of their net to Jack who fought in the corner for the puck passing it out to Nick on D who passed it over to Big E who shot it at their net. Scrum in front and Brady put it away!!! Tburg took the lead!! EVERYONE on the ice touched the puck and had a hand in the final goal. The crowd went bezerk!! I think it was a good thing Mrs. Turrill's boss kicked her out of work to get to this game!!!
The refs were not sympathetic to the Tornadoes this final game 4 penalties for us and none for them...a wee bit lopsided but what was worse was Ethan took a hooking penalty with 2:02 left in the game on a "questionable" call. Penalty killers Liam and Nate fought the puck keeping it in their end and after a quick change Brady and Jack stepped up. With 1:32 in the game, Brady collided with the big Oro defense at center ice and took a Body Checking penalty to put the Tornadoes down 2 men for the rest of the game. Oro pulled their goalie having 6 skaters vs our 3. Liam and Nick and Lyle were the killers for us, Liam got it back to Nick who iced the puck. Oro returned to our end and thankfully after a great poke check by Kaden, they went offside.
Whistle blew, kids cheered, gloves were off and there was still 3 seconds on the clock!
So kids had to come back to the bench and the coaches too a time out to give the boys a rest. Liam took the face off at our blue line with Nick and Lyle holding the line, faceoff won pushed the puck forward and the game was over...again!!
Congrats to Brady for the game MVP, well deserved and a fantastic team effort by all! Caledonia Challenge Cup Champions!! Hope Coach Eric got the video message!!
