Successful Weekend as the Tornadoes Win 2 More
Saturday afternoon Tillsonburg played host to the Hagersville Hawks for their 7th win and followed it up with their 8th win against the Six Nations Blackhawks on Sunday to remain undefeated at 8-0-1.

The Tornadoes came out slow and sluggish in the first, perhaps trying to shake off the Halloween candy sugar crash! There were not a lot of shots or scoring chances either way and both teams looked to get through the period.

First Period Scoring/Penalties

No Scoring

4:27 Mark L.  2 USC

The boys sharpened up in the second and showed patience with the puck and focused on making smart passes. This working as a team, and staying out of the penalty box, allowed the Tornadoes to open up the scoring and finish the period up 2-0.

Second Period Scoring/Penalties:

3:17 Blake V. -1 (Matt S.)

1:23 Blake V. -2 (Mark L)

The third saw the return of better team defence, the forwards showed their back checking strength did not allow the Hawks a chance to build momentum. Defence cleared the puck from in front of the net and the zone with confidence. They added an insurance goal late to seal it away.

Third Period Scoring/Penalties:

3:27 Josiah V. – 1 (Jacob B, Connor M)

12:37 Carter N. 2 BC

3:14 Carter N. 2 BC

2:25 Sean B 2 RO

Coach Groeneveld made special mention of credit to goaltender Ryan M. for keeping the team in the game during the early slow start. Ryan made a good number of difficult saves to earn the shutout.

Sunday the Tornadoes looked prepared and ready when they took the ice against the Blackhawks. What started out as a relatively even game quickly became a lopsided win as the visiting team got into penalty trouble and the Tornadoes took advantage.

First Period Scoring

1:19 Sean B (Blake V, Evan M)

Second Period Scoring

12:27 Sean B (Evan M, Jack M)

0:27 Jacob B (Austin B)

Third Period Scoring

13:19 Connor M (Josiah V)

12:14 Blake V (Austin B, Cameron L)

3:47 Josiah V (Connor M, Jacob B)

Jeremy W. earned the win, although he didn’t face many shots he had a few tough saves to help set the tone of the game.

With the win, Tillsonburg moves back into sole possession of 1st with 17 points and remain one of only 3 teams left undefeated in the League.  Tillsonburg also leads the league in GF (54) and the lowest GA (10).
