Hockey Canada Mandated Changes to Novice Coming
Tillsonburg Minor Hockey would like to share the following announcement from Hockey Canada:

"Starting in the 2019-2020 season, Hockey Canada has mandated players 8-years-old and under will participate in modified-ice games, which includes cross-ice or half-ice. To continue the player progression for young athletes already in modified-ice programming, the OHF will expand its modified-ice programming in 2018-2019 season and advance 2011-born players from cross-ice to half-ice games. The focus in practices will remain station-based."

What this means for our programing is in essence,  Novice will not continue how it currently runs.

This mandate from Hockey Canada is not eligible for adjustments, nor changes at the local level.  Enough research has gone into this process over the years to support the change.  We understand it is not how things have been done in the past and with all changes there will be some growing pains.  We fully support Hockey Canada's decision as an association and believe that it will further promote long term player development and make for stronger and more skilled hockey players.
