Rules of Play
- Hockey Canada and OMHA rules shall apply except where listed below. Mouth and Neck guards are required for all players
- Games may start up to 15 minutes early
- Period times are 10-10-15 in all divisions. No floods between periods
- There will be a timed three (3) minute warm-up beginning when ice surface is ready
- Games are to start promptly - No breaks between periods
- There will be a maximum of seventeen (17) skaters plus two (2) goaltenders allowed per team, as well as five (5) bench staff - all must be listed on the approved team roster.
- No protests will be heard regarding referee/officials’ decision, and all officials’ decisions shall be final
Time Outs:
- A thirty (30) second time out is allowed in all games – round robin and championship
Run Time Rule
- In all divisions during the third period, running time will commence when there is a differential of five (5) goals.
- Stop time will resume when the goal margin is reduced to three (3)
- The clock may be stopped at the referee’s discretion for injury or for intentional delay of the game
- Penalties during running time will be 3 minutes instead of 2 minutes
Penalties
- Intent to injure and fighting penalties will result in the player being expelled from the game and the remainder of the tournament
Round Robin Format & Play Off Format
U15 Division:
- 2 pools of 3 teams each. Each team will play all 3 teams in the alternate pool. (A vs B)
- The top 2 seeded teams from each pool will advance to the Semi Finals - and play against each other
- Pool A Seed 1 vs Pool A Seed 2
- Pool B Seed 1 vs Pool B Seed 2
- The Winning Team of each Semi-Final will advance to the Championship Game
U18 Division:
- 4 Pools of 3 teams each
- Pool A plays all 3 teams from Pool B
- Pool B plays all 3 teams from Pool A
- Pool C plays all 3 teams from Pool D
- Pool D plays all 3 teams from Pool C
- The Winning team of each Pool will advance to the Semi-Finals
- A Winner vs C Winner
- B Winner vs D Winner
- The Winning team of each Semi-Final Game will advance to the Championship Game

Seeding & Tie Breakers
- Playoff format will be determined based on the number of teams per division
- A team will be awarded 2 points for winning a game, 1 point for a tie and 0 points for a loss for all round robin tournament games
- Ties after completion of round robin play will be broken in the following order for seeding:
1. Most wins.
2. GF% - Goal Differential (GF/(GF + GA) = GF%
3. If still tied least goals against places higher.
4. If still tied least penalized team.
5. If still tied flip of a coin by Tournament Official.
Overtime
- Will be played in semi-final & championship games only
- Overtime will be sudden victory
- It will consist of one 6-minute stop time sudden death period of three-on-three hockey
- If still tied after overtime there will be a three-player shoot-out, if the game is still tied after all three players have shot the tie will be broken by a sudden death shoot-out (i.e., the first team to score when the other team does not score wins the game)
- Teams do not change ends after the third period
- Penalties in overtime will be served as called, any penalties incurred during regular time will carry over into overtime
- Teams will NOT play with less than 3 skaters, if penalties are called during three-on-three play then the non-penalized team will add one skater for the duration of the penalty
- The penalized player will then return to the ice upon the conclusion of the penalty
- Then, at the next stoppage in play, three-on-three play will resume.
- If a 2nd penalty is called during three-on-three play, then a second skater will be added to the non-penalized team.
- Please note: Teams may play up to two players short at any point during the overtime
Shoot Outs
- Shooters do not need to be identified before the game starts.
- Shooters will shoot simultaneously.
- Players may only be used once in a shootout until all players listed on the game sheet have finished, no player can shoot for a second time until all have shot once
- Any player serving a penalty that has not expired by the end of the sudden death overtime may not participate in the shoot-out
Jersey Colours (Home vs Away)
- The home team will wear white jerseys (Exception: Teams with only one set of jerseys)
- In case of conflict home team changes
- Any team that does not have home and away jerseys must ensure to notify tournament director upon time of registration
Code of Conduct
Abusive language and or behaviour of any kind by any player, team official, parent, relative, spectator or other attendee will not be tolerated. The determination of what constitutes abusive language and or behaviour rests solely with the tournament convenor and his/her delegate. Any person who engages in any abusive language and or behaviour will be expelled from the tournament and its venues for the duration of the tournament. Any team official, player or player parent who engages in abusive language or behaviour towards another team official or player, any referee, any volunteer and/or tournament convenor or committee will be immediately suspended for the balance of the tournament without any right of protest. Damage to any tournament facilities will be the responsibility of the team which caused it.
