At the OMHA AGM in June 2022, the OMHA
presented a “Category Review Committee Report” which identified that TMHI’s
base category be reclassified from “B” to “A” effective for the 2023-2024
season. The TMHI Board of Directors have accepted the reclassification and
planning has been underway for the changes next season.
The reclassification to “A” impacts all
Rep teams U10 and above. Please note that all Initiation Programs (U5, U6, U7,
U8) along with U9 programming and Local League programming will not
be impacted by this category change.
In part of TMHI’s preparations to move
to an “A” centre an Amalgamation committee was formed to review options and
present a recommendation to the board. On December 28th,
the TMHI board agreed to notify the OMHA of an intention to enter Amalgamation
negotiations with Ingersoll & District Minor Hockey. The
Amalgamation committees of Tillsonburg & Ingersoll have extensive work to
complete in order for this to be a possibility.
Next steps are as follows in
preparation for a vote for the membership:
- Individual boards would approve to meet and begin discussions to have an open discussion to amalgamate
- Inform OMHA Regional Director of our intention
- Begin formal discussion to amalgamate
- Once a general agreement in principle is reached then it must be taken back to each board and approved
- Once approved, the general agreement must be presented to both Associations in a special AGM to get members approval
Once approval from the membership of both associations is confirmed there are additional steps which need to take place in order to gain approval from OMHA for the amalgamation.
Further communications will be coming in the near future. A date is not yet set for the Special AGM, as we move forward in these discussions more information will be shared along with the date of the Special AGM.
