Atom AE, U11 Atom, 2012-2013 (Tillsonburg Minor Hockey Inc.)

The Tillsonburg Atom AE team was looking to make its mark on the Southern Counties League playoffs which began for them on Sunday evening against the Caledonia Thunder.

Coming off a Silver Stick tournament where the boys hard work got them deep into the semis, the team was at home Saturday afternoon for a home game against the OMHA first place Paris Wolfpack (12-3-2). The Tornadoes (8-4-2) learned in that tournament that with the effort and hard work they are capable of, they can compete and win against any team in the league and were looking to show it Saturday.

Excitement was in the air as the boys began the 2012 Bob Tansley Tillsonburg AE tournament this past weekend. The Atom division featured the hometown Tornadoes, Dorchester, Caledonia, Port Hope and Ilderton. The tournament got off to a frustrating start, got a little lower, than took off!

Coming off a strong performance against Tavistock at home Sunday, Tillsonburg (6-3-0) were looking to continue their winning ways on the road Wednesday in Caledonia (7-8-0). Both teams got off to a bit of a slow start but after Tillsonburg got their first few chances it seemed to go straight to their feet and resulted in the more aggressive, hard checking, defensively resposible and offence driven team they have become.  Tillsonburg now has an impressive 42 goals for and only 18 against in 9 regular season games this season. 

The much anticipated re-match with Tavistock (4-3-0) took place Sunday evening at the Memorial Arena for the Tornadoes (5-3-0) second home game of the season. The previous game with Tavistock was fast and even (and surely exciting to watch) and the boys were prepared for a similar game this time. Just like the other wins this season, this one came as a result of a total team effort all over the rink, for the full 3 periods of hockey.
